►SECURITY - EXT. 11247 OR 651-9011 ● AFTER HOURS - POLICE - 263-0346 ● EMERGENCIES - 911 ◄
A dangerous intruder would be defined as someone who is on campus, inside or outside, and who poses an immediate, deadly threat to an individual or individuals on campus. In the event there is a dangerous intruder on campus, notification will be made to the Crisis Management Team. The team, particularly the building coordinators, will then begin to make notification to staff in the building that "we are observing the closed door policy." Staff should close and lock doors if possible, close windows and pull blinds, and keep everyone present inside the office or classroom until official notification is made that the threat is over. Staff should check e-mail (if this can be done from the room they are in) for further information. If a person has information regarding a dangerous intruder and can safely make a call, he/she should contact the Moberly Police Department at 911 (campus phone) or 263-0346.
If the intruder is inside the office or classroom, and it is not possible to send someone for help, the incident should be considered a hostage situation. Those involved in this situation should not close doors or windows unless the intruder instructs them to do so (refer to hostage situation policy).
